The American Legion Post 31 in Little Falls held a solemn flag burning ceremony Tuesday night with the local scouts assisting.
Peter Atutis with the American Legion said “It’s our annual flag burning. We don’t hold it on Flag Day, which a lot of posts do, but with all the scouts involved, we do it on a different day. The kids deserve to see the result of what they did and to see the flags destroyed the way they are supposed to be destroyed.”
“It’s very nice and we can’t do it without them,” he said.
The scouts placed over 3,000 new flags in the City and then brought the old ones to the American Legion to be destroyed.
City residents can also drop off their faded or worn out American Flag any time the American Legion is open for proper disposal during the next ceremony.
