LITTLE FALLS, NY – The two teams would stay scoreless until the third inning, thanks to a stand-up triple by Pete Durocher (Emerson, NJ/Manhattan). The reigning PGCBL Player of the Week managed to come home on a passed ball by Cade Citelli (Prosper, TX/Texas-Arlington). Nick Giamarusti (Chicago, IL/Pittsburgh) tied it up in the top of the fourth by virtue of an error by Mohawk Valley catcher Jimmy Sullivan (East Hampton, CT/Northeastern).

The Mohawks took the lead in the fifth, thanks to a triple by Paul Winland (Beaufort, SC/Florida Southwestern) that scored Mark Black (Pittsburgh, PA/Wake Forest). Winland would score on an RBI single by Giamarusti.

Amsterdam brought another one home in the sixth, thanks to an RBI single by Briggs Rutter (Perikomenville, PA/Middle Tennessee State) that scored Brett Coker (Hendersonville, TN/East Tennessee State). They’d bring home a second run on the feet of Zach Gardiner (Oakvillle, Ontario, Canada/Marshall), who came home during a double play ball.

The Diamond Dawgs got one back in the eighth on an RBI single by Ernesto Polanco (West New York, NJ/Charleston Southern) that scored Alfredo Delgado (Bronx, NY/Manhattan). Amsterdam would add another three more in the top of the ninth before Nolan Lamere took only four at-bats to finish off the game.

Hagan Banks (Plainville, GA/Alabama) got the win for Amsterdam (31-4). Troy Butler (Fort Plain, NY/Herkimer) was saddled with the loss for Mohawk Valley (19-16), snapping their four-game winning streak.

The Diamond Dawgs will head on the road for the back half of their home-and-home series with Amsterdam on Friday. They will be back at Veteran’s Memorial Park on Saturday to host the Albany Dutchmen. Amsterdam will play a home-and-home with the Saugerties Stallions next, starting at Cantine Field on Sunday.
