LITTLE FALLS, NY – The Amsterdam Mohawks (25-7) only allowed two Mohawk Valley hits in an 8-0 shutout on a hot Sunday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Park.
Two walks and a single loaded up the bases just three batters in for Amsterdam. Another single by Bray Touchstone (Gulf Coast CC) scored the first two runs of the game, scoring Luke Filippi (SUNY Albany) on the hit, then Christ Hoalcraft (St. Bonaventure) on the throw. Touchstone, along with John McKillop (West Point), came home just one batter later on a 2-RBI single by Jayden Harriel (Florida Atlantic).
Hoalcraft extended the lead to five on another RBI single by Touchstone in the third inning. Danny Perez would bring Touchstone home two batters later on an RBI single of his own. Yet another single, this time by Jon Young Jr. (Alabama).
The score would stay that way until the bottom of the eighth, when the heavy rain came pouring in, ending the game prematurely.
Matthew Kahn (Villanova) picked up the loss for Mohawk Valley (17-15-1).
The Diamond Dawgs will be back in action on Tuesday night as they host the Boonville Lumberjacks at Veterans Memorial Park.
