Exhibit and Auction…
The Women’s Fund of Herkimer & Oneida Counties, Inc. presents Art of the Vote, an exhibit and auction celebrating the 19th Amendment – An exhibit to be featured at Munson Williams Proctor Art Institute now through March 28, 2021, and at the Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts during the month of May 2021.
The Women’s Fund’s mission is to create economic, educational, and personal growth opportunities for women and girls. It is with this mandate that we commissioned 10 works of art by Central New York artists. Over 40 artists submitted applications. Each of the 10 chosen entries is a personal depiction of the Suffragist Movement, the passage of the 19th Amendment, and women’s right to vote. With this exhibition, The Women’s Fund pays tribute to our foremothers who not only fought for the right to vote but they also literally laid the foundation for women to hold the highest office in the United States.
Art of the Vote celebrates generations of famous and anonymous figures who lobbied, marched, and were jailed in pursuit of gaining the right to vote for women.
The works of art inspired by these visionaries are on exhibit at Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute through March 28, 2021. They will be displayed at the MVCA 401 Gallery during the month of May 2021.
