Betty A. Weaver

Betty A. Weaver, 76, of the Town of Oppenheim, Dolgeville, New York, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Monday morning, December 4, 2023, at her home with her loving husband by her side.

She was born on May 2, 1947, in Little Falls, New York, and was the daughter of the late Raymond and Mary (Shaver) Cool. Betty attended Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School.

On May 4, 1963, Betty was united in marriage to Harold E. Weaver at the Lassellsville Free Methodist Church in Lassellsville, New York. The couple shared a loving union of 60 years together, where they raised their children and grandchildren in a loving home.

Betty was formerly employed by Daniel Green Shoe in Dolgeville, New York as a laborer. She was a dedicated employee working for the company for 30 years until its closure in 1999.

She was a steadfast member of the Hilltop Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, where she served several officer roles over her 60+year membership, including President and long-time Treasurer. Her membership began when the Hilltop Volunteer Fire Department was formed in 1960.

Betty was the loving matriarch of her family. She enjoyed going to all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting and schooling events over the years. In younger years, Betty and Harold had a campsite on Peck’s Lake for 21 years where they formed many special friends. She enjoyed reading, connecting with family and friends on Facebook, and had a knack with computer technology. Betty was always the binder in keeping her family together for family functions and hosting all holiday family get-togethers to keep everyone close. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend, Betty will be sorely missed by her family, friends, and community.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Harold E. Weaver at home; two loving children, Carrie Carpenter and her husband, Leland “Butch” of Oppenheim, NY, and Wayne Weaver and his wife, Robin of Palatine Bridge, NY; special grandchildren, Becky McAdams and her husband, Vincent of Oppenheim, NY, Cory Carpenter of Dolgeville, NY and Jabin Weaver and his wife, Victoria of Blue Bell, PA; cherished great-grandchildren, Audrina McAdams, Gianna McAdams, and Walker Weaver; a sister, Doris Wengenack of Nelliston, NY; a brother, John Cool of Oppenheim, NY and FL; a sister-in-law, June Young of Oppenheim, NY; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

Betty was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Arthur Young.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York, with members of the Hilltop Volunteer Fire Department Standing Honor Guard. A funeral service will be held immediately following calling hours at 1 p.m. also at the funeral home. A graveside committal service will follow at Dolgeville Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest.

The family would like to thank Dr. Buch at Tri-County Medical in Little Falls, NY, for all his care for Betty over the years, the St. Johnsville Ambulance Corps, Oppenheim First Responders, and the Hilltop Volunteer Fire Department with all their assistance and support for Betty and her family during their difficult loss.
