The Inaugural Bluegrass, Bikes, & BBQ event is brought to you by Adirondack Harley, and Harley Davidson of Utica. It’s a free two-day live music event held on Saturday September 29th and 30th. The event will be held at Moreland Park in Little Falls.
The idea came out of a Tourism Committee meeting in mid August. According to Jordyan Mueller “they just kind of put the word out there to see who was interested to help make this happen.”
Nine people showed up to the first meeting and everyone was really excited. “It’s definitely a different kind of event than typically happens in Little Falls, so we were very enthusiastic about who we could draw out to the event,” said Mueller.
“We quickly built relationships and the YMCA is a huge supporter of this event, so they helped open a lot of doors. We really hit the ground running,” stated Mueller.
They choose Moreland Park “Because it is so beautiful there. If you’re local, you know about Moreland Park, but it’ a little bit of an afterthought, but it’s a great setting for a festival,” said Mueller. “We wanted to get it back on the map and show people how beautiful it is there. The DPW has been great patching up the road.”
Motorcyclists, Bicyclists, and anyone on foot or in cars are invited to attend. This is a family friendly picnic style event. Attendees are invited to bring picnic snacks and beverages. Snacks and water will be available for sale. Little Falls Elks Lodge will be selling their famous Chicken BBQ for $10.
Limited Parking is available at Moreland Park. Additional parking is available at Veterans Park in Little Falls with a free shuttle bus available every 15 mins on Saturday, 9/29 from 11am – 9pm and on Sunday 9/30 from 10am – 4pm.
The event is showcasing some big name Bluegrass Bands from around the region. Bands include Appalachian Still from Northampton Massachusetts; The Delaney Brothers from Cortland, NY; Cedar Ridge from Clinton Park, NY; Blind Crow from Albany, NY; The Continental Kit Band from Little Falls, NY; and our 2018 house band Rope Smokin’ Roy “The Hair Farmer” and his Orphans of the Storm from Little Falls.
Live music starts on Saturday at 12pm and goes until 10:30pm and again on Sunday from 11am until 4pm. Get your fiddle on at the Fiddle Contest for cash prizes, two songs each, kids at 5:30pm and adults at 6:30pm with the winners announced at 8pm Saturday night.
According to Mueller “Plans are to grow the event and turn it into a three-day festival where people can come and and stay. Little Falls is so beautiful and Moreland Park is the perfect setting for this festival.”
There is limited availability for tent camping for 50 single occupant tents and interested parties must register prior to the event. Please communicate all questions to Jordyan Mueller, Event Coordinator at 315-868-8924 or LFBluegrassBBQ@gmail.com
