The Little Falls varsity soccer team lost their home opener to Waterville 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Coach Darin Lynch said, “I thought we’ve shown remarkable improvement over the last two weeks. We ended up playing a man down and they were nice enough to take a man off the field to match us. We’re also playing with some injured guys and first-year players.”

“The kids are playing with a lot of guts and courage. We’re looking to rebuild the team We’re low on numbers now but we have a good 8th-grade group coming up and we’re teaching these guys the fundamentals of soccer and getting them to play with courage and heart, which they showed today, playing up to the last whistle.”

Between injuries and a shallow bench, the team had only eight players left on the field at the end of the game.

Coach Lynch started teaching in Little Falls four years ago and used to coach in St. Johnsville.
