A public hearing that had been initially scheduled for February 12, 2019, and that was delayed by weather, was held last night.  There was no input from the community on the Cold War Veterans Exemption, so the public hearing was closed and a special session of the council was called to order to vote on the measure.

In the last regular common council meeting, Mayor Blask had stated “The exemption expires on March 1, 2019 and there are local veterans who use this property tax exemption. These are service members who have served between 1945 and 1991. There are a handful of them in the city and they rely on this property tax exemption.”

The measure passed unanimously on a roll call vote and the meeting was adjourned.
