The DiamondDawgs announced the signing of Junior Left Handed pitcher Pete Soporowski from Rider University for the 2019 season. At 6’2″ 225 LBS Pete is a big time presence on the mound. He has not only been one of the best pitchers for Rider University, but also the conference the last two seasons. He was named the team’s MVP last year and has won several player of the week honors.

– Made 13 appearances including a team-high 13 starts for the Broncs on the mound as a sophomore.
– Was named the Team’s Most Valuable Pitcher.
– Was once named the MAAC Pitcher of the Week.
– He went 3-7 with a 5.35 ERA. He tossed a team-high 65.2 innings and struck out a team-best 48 strikeouts.
– Tossed six or more innings in six starts. Recorded five quality starts.
– Pitched seven scoreless innings scattering three hits and striking out five batters against Miami (Ohio) on March 3.
– Struck out a season-best seven hitters and allowed just one earned run in six innings to earn his first win of the season against Delaware State on February 26.

– Made 14 appearances on the mound, including 13 starts for the Broncs.
– Was a prominent weekend starter in MAAC play.
– Went 2-5 with a 6.95 ERA and struck out 44 batters in 66 innings of work.
– Third on the team in innings pitched and strikeouts.
– Tossed six or more innings three starts (two of which came in MAAC play).
– Had three quality starts.
– First collegiate win came at Georgia as he pitched six innings and allowed three earned runs.
– Second win of the year came versus Saint Peter’s in MAAC play.
– Named the MAAC Rookie of the Week on April 18.

Attended Sayreville War Memorial High School…Three-year letter winner for baseball as a pitcher and first baseman…First Team All-County…First Team All-League…First Team All-Division honors…won five games as a junior with a 1.68 earned run average…compiled 67 strikeouts in 57 innings, earning First Team All-Conference and Third Team All-Group IV honors…Third Team All-Conference selection, compiling a 1.82 earned run average as a sophomore…plays for the 9ers baseball club.

Hobbies include fishing and golf…son of Ronald and Florence Soporowski…older brother Ronald.
