Most of her life she resided in Connecticut while working for various financial institutions as a Research Librarian on Wall Street. She was a graduate of Williamsville South High School, in 1974 and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Beloit (WI) College, in 1978. She also received a Master of Philosophy from Columbia University, in 1981 and a Master of Library Science from Syracuse University, in 1989.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her three brothers, Joseph (Mary Beth), David (Linda) and Jeffrey (Karla); as well as her nephews and nieces, Brent, Kelly, Scott, Jessica, Ben and Sarah; one cousin, Gary Rautenstrauch; and her lifelong friend, Betsy Pawlicki. She is also survived by four grand-nephews and one grand-niece. Betsy leaves behind her beloved dogs, Laddie, Ricki and Willi; as well as her cats, DG, Dozer and Molly.

Betsy was a longtime lover of small animals, especially Scottish Terriers. She was an active member of Christ Church Parish, in Redding, CT, where she served on numerous committees and sang in the choir. She enjoyed her quiet retirement years in NY, being active in her local church and most recently sang with the Catskill Choral Society, of Oneonta, NY.

There will be no visiting hours, but a Memorial Service will be held later this year in the Buffalo, NY area.

Betsy was an enthusiastic advocate for rescue animals and always found room in her home for dogs and cats in need. If you wish to give a memorial gift, consider donating to a local animal shelter or to the STCNE (Scottish Terrier Club of New England) and in the memo section put “For the Renee Shulman Fund” which rescues older Scotties. The address is… STCNE, PO Box 381, Northford, CT 06472.

Elizabeth’s local arrangements have been entrusted to the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Ilion, New York, Enea, Ciaccia & Applegate Funeral Directors (315-894-8000).
