Eric S. David

DOLGEVILLE – Eric S. David, 66, of Dolgeville, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, leaving behind a trail of laughter and heartfelt memories.

Eric was born on December 24, 1957, to parents Harry and Helen David, in the city of Rahway, NJ. Eric graduated from Metuchen High School in 1976.

Eric met his wife Jill through mutual friends and it was love at first sight. Anyone who knew them could see how much they cared for each other and the pair were married, on July 9, 1995. Eric and Jill went on to have 3 children: Noelle, Hollie and MK David of whom he was more proud of than anything.

Eric was a passionate devotee of the arts, with a vibrant love for theatre, music and the resounding joy of bell choir. From a young age, Eric participated in local community theatre and was part of more productions than you could count. His love for singing led him to church choir and bell choir at a young age, which were passions he held on to throughout his life, acting as a vibrant member of the Dolgeville United Methodist Church choir and most recently, reviving the bell choir for Christmas. Besides his love of music, Eric was an active reader and in his spare time could be found with a novel in hand.

Known for his vibrant spirit and infectious wit, Eric had a rare talent for blending blatant honesty with sincerity, making every conversation memorable and lively. His honesty was as profound as it was refreshing, earning him the respect and trust of those fortunate enough to know him. Despite his sharp tongue, Eric possessed a deep kindness and caring nature, always ready to lend a hand or an ear to anyone in need. His genuine concern for others shone brightly, guiding his actions and interactions. Eric’s unique combination of humor, honesty and heartfelt compassion touched the lives of many, making his absence deeply felt in the community and beyond.

In addition to his vibrant personality, Eric was deeply devoted to his faith and the upkeep of Dolgeville United Methodist Church, where he was a steadfast member and took immense joy in maintaining its grounds and facilities. His hands-on approach in volunteering for maintenance projects not only kept the physical structure welcoming and pristine but also served as a testament to his belief in stewardship and community service, creating a lasting legacy of his love for his church and everyone in it.

Eric was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Helen David.
