An event every week that begins at 5:00 pm on Thursday, repeating until September 2, 2021
Cruise In by Mike kicks off a summer of fun down at Rotary Park, each Thursday night from 5-8 pm during the months of June, July, August, and Sep 2nd.
Blues Brothers on August 12th and a fireworks display on Sep 2nd.
Mike Bulger, organizer of the event stated, “It’s now called Cruise In by Mike, but used to be called Cruise In Little Falls Marina. We changed the name because we’re going to be doing a lot of other things. We’re cruising restaurants, drive-in theaters, anywhere we get an itch to go, we go.”
Bulger says it’s just a fun event that people can come to. “Anybody that owns a car, wants to see a car, drive a car. We hand keys over all the time.”
If you head down to the marina for the show, you can expect to be able to get something to eat, listen to music, look at the cars, and talk to the owners. “There will be 50/50 drawings and some prizes as well, including some special events that we’ll hold during the year.”
Half of the money they raise during the 50/50 raffle supports ICAN (Integrated Community Alternatives Network), which is a local not-for-profit organization that is a unique home and community-based network that provides individualized and non-traditional services and care to the highest risk individuals and families with social, emotional, mental health, and behavioral challenges.
Bulger is hoping to have the Happy Hags Dance Troupe show up, as well as the Blues Brothers, who have been regulars in past years. “I’m probably going to have a 50s night again, even if it bombs as bad as the last one did,” he said.
One of the key charities that they support is the Shop with a Cop event in December. “Hopefully we’ll be able to raise enough for 10-12 kids to be able to go shopping with a cop or fireman,” stated Bulger.
Once the event finishes up at 8 pm, those who want to, get in their cars and ‘parade’ around town, going down Main Street and then up Ann, eventually ending up at Stewarts for coffee. “If the PD is not busy they’ll escort us around town, if they are, then we’ll just carefully go around ourselves.”
On the final night of the event on August 26th, they’re hoping that they can have their closing fireworks display. “That will be the last cruise of the year,” said Bulger.
