Together with the New York Power Authority and New York State Canal Corporation, Little Falls Mayor Mark Blask invites you to learn about “The Little Falls Connector,” a project being proposed through the Reimagine the Canals initiative, from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday, March 29 at the Little Falls High School.
The Little Falls Connector aims to create a new pedestrian bridge, connecting the Empire State Trail directly to the Erie Canal at Lock 17, enabling easy access to Moss Island, Seeley Street, and the City of Little Falls for pedestrians and cyclists. Improvements to Seeley Street, funded through New York State’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative, will complete the connection. Additionally, a park envisioned at Lock 17 will include seating, a kayak launch, and new plantings for the City of Little Falls. Simultaneous with the construction of these projects, necessary repair work to structures in and around Lock 17 will occur, including the dam, canal walls, and lock towers.
