The 2nd Annual Turkey Trot 5K Run and Walk kicked off early Thursday morning in temperatures that were about forty degrees warmer than last year’s event.

According to Rob Richard, organizer of the event, “We’re glad that we have another great turnout for the 5K and we’re really happy that it’s a lot warmer for the race than it was last year, which makes it a lot more fun.”

The money raised during the run will go to the Community Outreach, “Which does a lot of important things in the community, especially for the children,” said Richard.

“We’re excited to partner with them again,” he said.

The Van Meter’s provided the funds necessary for the t-shirts that people received, and the YMCA provided the space for the organizers to set up, and liability insurance for the event.

“We had coffee donated by Stewarts, and it’s great to have these community partners who make this race happen so that we can raise money for a good cause,” Richard stated.

The overall race winner was Matt Connolly with a time of 19:47 and the female winner was Leah Wessinger with a time of 23:46.

Richard said that more than sixty runners participated and that they were able to raise more than $800.00 to donate to the Little Falls Community Outreach.
