Frank Foley 1947 – 2022

Frank Foley

Little Falls native and former resident Frank Foley passed away at his home in Groton, N.Y. on May 20, 2022, after a long period of poor health. Frank was born on April 30, 1947, in Little Falls, the oldest child of George and Vera (Gregorka) Foley, both deceased. Frank is survived by his ex-wife, Cynthia Holick-Foley, daughter, Kaitlin Duffy Foley, Esq. (husband George Coffin) of Cohoes, NY, brother, Father Marc Foley, Washington, DC, and Mary (Foley) Green (husband Philip Green) of Little Falls. Also surviving Frank are his cousins Gary, Craig, and Bob Gregorka, with whom he shared many good times. Frank was pre-deceased by his cousin Donn Gregorka.

Frank graduated from St. Mary’s Academy, SUNY Morrisville, and Syracuse University. Frank was a talented land surveyor and highway layout technician, having learned those skills at Mohawk Valley Community College. He worked for a number of professional land surveyors and construction companies prior to his retirement. Frank resided on the shores of Spruce Lake in the Town of Salisbury for a number of years before moving to the Ithaca area in the 1980s. Along with Cynthia and Kaitlin, he lived in the Village of Moravia for 25 years where he was an active member of the community. He was extremely proud of Kaitlin and all her accomplishments in high school, college, and law school.

In his prime, Frank was an intelligent, witty, creative, and humorous fellow and a great storyteller. His gregarious nature charmed many people who met him. He was also one of the best pocket pool players of his generation of poolhall aficionados having spent many hours in all of the pool halls in Little Falls both as a teenager and an adult. He won numerous awards at various competitions in Utica and surrounds. He also loved animals and his homes were always graced by dogs and cats.

Frank’s many longtime friends in Little Falls and beyond were saddened to learn of his passing and will remember him fondly. According to his wishes, Frank was cremated. No funeral services are planned at this time.
