Coach Pam Munger just couldn’t spend her summer sitting by the pool, so she decided to start a girls basketball league. “I’m trying to get it so that we are playing locally to make it easier for kids and parents to get here.”
She said that what she really did was go old school by going back outside. “I have former players – boys and girls that are going to do some officiating and make a little bit of money – only 10 bucks per game.”
Mike Carney is helping with instruction for the ‘referees to be’ and scorekeeping. “Hopefully it will get the older kids interested in doing this on a regular basis and get them to take an officiating class and get certified. It’s a double whammy here,” she stated.
Munger said they’re trying all the way around to get this going and make it a yearly event.
