In a rain-shortened game, the girls varsity soccer team shut out Herkimer 6-0 to end their regular season with an unbeaten record in league play. In conditions that had the girls laughing on both sides of the field, the Mounties were just too powerful for Herkimer.

The game was called at the half by the officials because of the conditions on the field, but Herkimer wanted to keep going. However, the officials prevailed as they were concerned about possible injuries in the extremely poor conditions.

According to coach Sal Marchese “It was a great way to finish out the season – undefeated in the league, which was nice. We finished 14 and 2, so we should have a good high seed in the sectionals hopefully.”

Marchese went on to say how happy he was for the seniors “I’ve had them the last four years…most of them and what a great bunch of girls. I can’t think of a better group to win 100 games with than them. It’s been perfect.”

According to the coach, “it’s not over yet though.” The girls will practice and try and stay at the peak of their game until they find out their opponent in the sectionals.
