The Greater Little Falls Community Chest kicks off its 2021 appeal for funding this week and seeks your support.

The Greater Little Falls Community Chest’s annual campaign supports 16 local not for profit community service agencies and programs including The Little Falls Family YMCA, Mohawk Valley Chapter American Red Cross, Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts, Little Falls Community Outreach, Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways, Leatherstocking Council Boy Scouts of America, Dolgeville Youth Football, Little Falls Youth Football, Little Falls Youth Soccer, Little Falls Youth Basketball, Little Falls Youth Softball, Little Falls Little League, Little Falls Babe Ruth Baseball, YMCA of Mohawk Valley Sexual Violence Program, WCA, and The Herkimer County Human Society.

This year’s goal is $40,000 and now more than ever these valuable community programs are in need of help and relying on your support to continue their important work in our community.

Interim President of the group Tony DeLuca stated, “The needs are greater because many of the programs and agencies have a limited ability to do their own fundraising because of the potential of COVID exposure, guidelines, and other restrictions. Our money will have greater importance to them this year.”

This year pledge cards will be mailed to all past donors and those wishing to contribute to this year’s appeal may forward their tax-deductible contribution to The Greater Little Falls Community Chest, 15 Jackson Street Little Falls, NY 13365.

DeLuca said, “From the donor’s side, quite frankly, we’re uncertain as to what the capacity of the donors will be. Many of our donors might be unemployed, or seniors on a fixed income. We don’t know what their ability to give will be this year. We’re hoping that it will be at the same level or higher, but it’ a big question mark for us.”

One hundred percent of the people involved in the community chest are unpaid volunteers, and because of that, 99% of everything donated goes straight to the agencies listed as beneficiaries.

“Knowing the fiber of the citizenry of Little Falls, I think they will respond generously and will come up with a worthy donation. We think they’ll recognize the importance of all these agencies and programs and will want to keep us strong,” he stated.
