Harry A. Kuchman

Harry A. Kuchman, 78, of Salisbury Center, New York, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, May 19, 2024 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, New York. He had the love and support of his family during his transition.

He was born on July 17, 1945 in Little Falls, New York and was the son of the late, Harry and Elizabeth (Jaiken) Kuchman. Harry attended and graduated from Dolgeville Central School.

On July 6, 1991, Harry was united in marriage to Deborah (Mooney) Cowles in Salisbury Center, New York. The couple shared a union of 13 years when Deborah passed away in August of 2004.

Harry was formerly employed with Cellect Plastics, LLC in St. Johnsville, New York in the maintenance department. He worked there for 30 years until the company permanently closed.

Harry also followed in his father’s footsteps and was a known scrap metal dealer throughout the area. Following his retirement, Harry became the caregiver of his grandson, Jackson Harry Kuchman. He enjoyed woodworking and antique shopping. He believed everything had a value and anything could be repaired. Harry also enjoyed watching Westerns and the original Perry Mason show. He was an avid New Orleans Saints fan and watching football.

He is survived by his children, Philip Keeler and his wife, Sandy of Salisbury Center, NY, Kristine Koster of Fort Plain, NY, Tiffany Barton of Troy, NY, Joseph Cowles of Salisbury Center, NY and Samantha Kuchman of Canton, OH; his grandchildren, Jackson, Elenor, Mike, Brittney, Philip II, Skyeleigh, Dee, Scott, Alysha, Zachary, Connor as well as several other grandchildren; nephews, Daniel VanOlst and his wife, Diane and their children, Tereza, Sabbith and Kerisa VanOlst; and nephew, David VanOlst, all of Salisbury Center, NY.

Harry was predeceased by his parents; two sons, Lee Kuchman and Darren Kuchman; a sister, Sue A. (Kuchman) VanOlst, and a brother, David Kuchman.

In keeping with family wishes, there will be no formal services. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held at a date and time to be announced in the future. He will be laid to rest with his wife, Deborah at Curtis Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
