Holy Family Parish, Little Falls and St. Joseph, Dolgeville will gather this weekend –
February 2/3, 2019 to celebrate the Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time. All are welcome to join us.

The demise of the prophets came about because they forced choices. The challenge of the gospels is also that they force us to choose – follow the word of God or follow the word of man. The comforting thing about God’s word is that it comes with God’s assurance that he will protect us, as we heard in our first reading: “They will fight against you but not prevail over you.” The disturbing thing is that God’s protection may not always come as quickly as we want, or in the manner that we were expecting. Jeremiah ended up in a cistern and Jesus ended up on the cross. The prophets and the gospels require that we make choices. Do we welcome Jesus or run away from him? Do we grow in discipleship or stagnate in narrowness? Do we follow God’s word or man? That is our choice, and we are forced to choose every day.
February 3rd is the traditional feast day of St. Blaise, patron saint of diseases of the throat. There will be blessing of throats following all Masses this weekend.
