Holy Family Parish, Little Falls and St. Joseph, Dolgeville will gather this weekend –
March 2/3, 2019 to celebrate the Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time. All are welcome to join us.

Ash Wednesday – March 6 – Mass Schedule: 12:10 p.m. – Holy Family Parish
5:00 p.m. – St Joseph’s

On Wednesday we will begin another season of Lent, a time of penance for our past failings, and a time of reflection on how we can overcome our faults and be more pleasing to God. We can all probably suggest to others what type of penance they might do to rid themselves of their faults. And then we hear in today’s gospel: “First remove the beam in your own eye, then you will see more clearly to remove the splinter in your brother’s eye.” It is often easier to see other people’s faults than our own. Before we judge others, before we criticize other’s behavior, let each one of us recognize our own faults and work at drawing ourselves closer to God, especially during the Lenten season, now only a few days away.

God of goodness and mercy: Hear my prayer as I begin this Lenten journey to you. Let me be honest with myself as I look into my heart and soul. Let me notice those times that I turned away from you, those times I did not live up to my calling as a disciple of Christ. Guide me as I humbly seek to do better – to be better. Help me to seek you in all things and to live forever in your abundant grace. Transform me this Lent, Father. Give me the strength to commit to grow closer to you each day. Amen
