Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
It is my hope that this letter finds you and your family coping well with the current health situation and its extraordinary impact on everyday life. Please be assured of my prayers for you and your loved ones. Although we cannot be near one another physically, we are never alone. We are united as children of our Father in heaven, who gave us His Son and the Holy Spirit to remain always with us.
As you may already know, the Diocese of Albany has canceled all public Masses. This decision was made by Bishop Scharfenberger to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. Although all public Masses are canceled, I will continue to offer a private Mass daily for all of your intentions. Even though we cannot receive Holy Communion, we can make a Spiritual Communion. Saints down through the ages have recommended this simple practice.
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at
least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.
Secondly, Holy Family Church remains open daily for prayer. In lieu of Masses, there will be opportunities for Confession and Adoration. Please be sure to check the schedule on Facebook as things may change. I encourage you to make a visit to pray the Rosary, ponder Sacred Scripture, make the Stations of the Cross, or simply remain in the presence of the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.
I look forward to meeting all of you in person when we return to normalcy. If you would like to stop in to talk about anything, or just to introduce yourself please do! As of now, my office hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-4 p.m.
In the meantime, let us pray for one another.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Brian Slezak
