Holy Family Parish, Little Falls and St. Joseph, Dolgeville will gather this weekend
June 29/30, 2019 to celebrate the 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time. All are welcome to join us.

13th SUNDAY in ORDINARY TIME
In our gospel today Jesus tells us that if we wish to be his disciples, we must always place God first in our lives – no excuses. It is not enough to just follow Christ’s teachings when the going is easy and we have nothing else to do. We must do it always. Jesus tells us that we must love God always. That means spending time with God. There may be weekends when we would rather be at a sporting event, but to follow Jesus we must make time to be at Mass to share in the Eucharist. And we must make time to pray, to have that conversation with God. Reflect on where God is in your list of priorities. Is God on the top of the list or a bit further down?

INDEPENDENCE DAY
Thursday, July 4, is Independence Day, that day in 1776 when the 13 American colonies declared their independence from England. On this day it is good to reflect on the words of the Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Our founders understood that everything comes from God. The founders also understood that all are created equal in God’s eyes, though at times our nation has not lived up that understanding. Pray God that we never forget that all are equal and all are free to live their lives in God’s love. The parish offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday of this week in honor of this national holiday.
Congratulations to all of the graduates of Little Falls and Dolgeville schools. Please keep them in your prayers as they begin the next part of their life’s journey. May they keep God always present in their heart, wherever the next part of that journey takes them.
This weeks collection items for the food pantry are; boxed potatoes, rice, canned vegetables
Monetary donations are always appreciated.

Summer Blessing for Families
May we make our homes places of relaxation,
joy, love, peace, and safety.
May we be generous and considerate,
not thinking only about ourselves,
but helping others enjoy the blessings of the summertime.
Lord God, Creator of all things,
guide our steps and strengthen our hearts
during these months of summer and vacation days.
Grant us refreshment of mind and body.
May we constantly strive to make a meaningful difference
in the lives of our loved ones and in the world around us
as we enjoy the warm days of summertime.
