Holy Family Parish, Little Falls and St. Joseph, Dolgeville will gather this weekend
September 21/22, 2019 to celebrate the 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time. All are welcome to join us.
Today’s gospel puts to us a basic question: Whom do we serve? The wily steward is clearly self-serving and decisive in doing what he thinks necessary for his own well-being. But by acting this way, he risks squandering his eternal well-being. To secure this he needed to choose God rather than self. The irony is that had he chosen God he would have chosen to serve himself in the best possible way. To protect ourselves and our families, we do need to be, if not shrewd, at least aware of the ways of the world. But, above all, we need to be aware of the ways of God and act accordingly – with love towards all people. Only in acting in God’s way can we find happiness in this life and eternal joy in the next.
