HERKIMER – Mr. John Anthony Palmieri, age 62, passed away peacefully, on Friday, May 10, 2024, at his home. His family is saddened by his unexpected passing, yet are grateful he is at home in heaven with his loved ones.

He was born in Herkimer, on June 3, 1961, a son of John, Jr. and Antoinette (Petucci) Palmieri. He attended Herkimer schools and was a lifelong area resident. In his younger years, he was a mechanic at Varlaro’s garage. John was a friend to all who knew him and was always quick to smile and wave. He was a dedicated employee at Remington Arms for many years and was a loving son and a wonderful generous brother and uncle. His family was absolutely everything to him and to those he loved he dedicated his life.

He is survived by his beloved family: his mom, Toni; his brothers, Donald Palmieri and Robert and his wife, Mary Palmieri, all of Herkimer; his two nephews, Xavier and Noah; his two nieces, Ashley Urtz and husband, Thomas and Makayla Miller and partner, George Lyon; his two great-nieces, Evangeline and Rose Lyon; several cousins, aunts and uncles; and his coffee buddies at Stewarts.

He was predeceased by his father, John, Jr.; his brother, David; his nephew, Joal; and several aunts and uncles.

As per John’s wishes, there will be no public calling hours. His family will gather privately to bid farewell to him. Relatives are invited to attend his Wake Service, which will take place on Wednesday morning, May 22, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, in Herkimer. The interment will take place the same morning at 10:00 a.m., at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer and Catholic burial rites will be administered.

Those wishing, may consider donations in memory of John Palmieri, to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
