Little Falls-Joseph M. “Joe” Leon, age 55, of Flint Ave., Ext., passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, October 1, 2019, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown in the presence of his loving family members, who were always at his side. He fought a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on June 30, 1964, in Little Falls the son of Dayton Leon and the late Florence (Jones) Leon and he received his education in Little Falls schools. Joe enjoyed fishing, baseball and was a Yankee fan. He was a diehard Buffalo Bills fan. Joe was a loving family man, son, brother and uncle who was extremely family-oriented. In his earlier years, he took part in karate and excelled in it.
Survivors include his beloved family; his father, Dayton Leon of Little Falls; siblings, Cindy Uhlig and Ron of Herkimer, Kim Mahoney and husband Rich of Herkimer, Dayton Leon, Jr. and companion Liz Reginoato of Virginia, Tonya Leon and companion Steve Slaboc of Stratford, Debbie Jones of Little Falls, Analisa Leon of Little Falls, Holly Dreuske of Ilion; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; his dear friends, Darla (and “Granny”) and Steve Sterusky, Chuckie Oldfield, Jr., Jeannie and John Sterusky. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Lamar (Mark) Leon in 2010 and Todd Leon in 2016.
Traditional funeral services will take place on Monday, October 7, 2019, at Church Street Cemetery, West Monroe Street, Little Falls, commencing at 1 pm. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5 (town of Manheim), between Little Falls and St. Johnsville, 315-508-5131, on Sunday, October 6, 2019, from 2-4 p.m.
