Last night, Think Local, the City, the Little Falls YMCA, and the Little Falls Tourism Committee put on an all-ages event at Canal Place called a Midsummer Night’s Picnic.
Unlike Art Walk, most of the Third Thursday events are not really large enough to take place all over the City of Little Falls, so there is a focus on different areas of the city in different months.
According to organizer Jessica Susan Kelly, “This is our fifth Midsummer Night Picnic and it’s always a great time and a wonderful night in the park. The idea is for everyone who wants to come out to enjoy a beautiful night in Canal Place with friends and family.”
“We have lots of vendors and primarily we’re supporting not for profits, so Pause for Paws is here, and the Community Outreach is having a new fundraiser this year where they have wish boats that will be launched on the canal. It’s really a team and community effort,” she said.
The Mummers Along the Mohawk, which is a new theater group in Little Falls performed for the crowd, as did the Remsen Social Club, with an original take on bluegrass. The Happy Haggs Dance Troupe performed, there was solar and stargazing, a story hour for grownups and even the Palm Reading Lady showed up.
