Little Falls – Planning is already well underway for the Little Falls Cheese Festival as they prepare for their 5th year. The festival celebrates artisan cheesemakers in New York State and highlights the impact that the city had on the emerging cheese industry dating back to the third quarter of the 19th century when it was coined the Cheese Capital of the US. By revisiting this piece of history, the Little Falls Cheese Festival has fashioned an opportunity for guests to come to the scenic community and explore all that it has to offer.
In preparation for the 5th annual festival, the committee is holding a special competition to redesign their logo. Little Falls resident and artist, Deirdre “Dee” Turner generously provided the Festival with her artwork which has been prominently displayed on everything from posters and programs to the website and social media pages. Committee member, Laura Powers, shares, “Dee’s artwork beautifully captured the spirit of the festival and we are all grateful for her talent and generosity.” According to the competition poster, “a distinctive, font-based logo” is being sought to promote the growing festival.
Artists and designers may enter as many times as they like, using up to 4 colors for each submission. Logo entries should be submitted as a jpg (300 dpi) to littlefallscheesefestival@gmail.com no later than November 30, 2018. Not only will the winning logo be adopted by the event, but there will be a $250 cash prize along with a cheese basket. It is noted that the Committee reserves the right to slightly alter/tweak the winning design to fit formats on their website and promotional materials.
Support for the festival has continued to be strong with Feldmeier Equipment, WKTV News Channel 2, Enea Family Funeral Homes, and Stewart’s Shops having sponsored the event this past summer. According to the festival website, there were more additional Supporters than in prior years as well. Special thanks are given to Main Street First, the City of Little Falls, the Little Falls Family YMCA, and the Little Falls Tourism Committee for their ongoing support.
