Little Falls goalie Abby Vadney signs her Letter of Intent to attend Herkimer College.

Little Falls goalie Abby Vadney Class of ‘23, will continue her soccer career at Herkimer College. Vadney will join the Generals as a member of the Class of ‘25.

Abby has been playing soccer since she was four years old and began playing as a goalie when she was ten. “I begged my parents, screamed and cried to join the soccer team and got on the spring team.”

The four-year varsity starter earned second-team Center State Conference recognition in her junior year.

This fall, Vadney was named a first-team Center State Conference All-Star and named Most Outstanding Goalie in the Poland Tournament.

Vadney has anchored a strong defense for Little Falls, and the four-year letter-winner recorded 382 saves with 13 career shut-outs.

Abby said she chose Herkimer because “I’ve known Damon Neish basically my whole life. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do, so I decided to start small and then work my way up.”

She said she became a goalie because “I went from wanting to score all the time to being the only one tall enough to actually reach anything kicked at me. I kinda got put into it, and it stuck.”

Vadney also played club soccer for SDA Utica, Rising Stars Soccer Club, and finally, with the NY Highlanders SC.

While playing club, she was a five-time Lakefront Tournament Sportsmanship Award winner and two-time SISC (Syracuse Indoor Sports Center) Tournament Sportsmanship Award recipient.

Abby is the daughter of Stephen and Donna Vadney and is undecided about her major.
