The Little Falls Public Library is pleased to announce a presentation at the Little Falls Public Library on Saturday, June 4th, to serve as an introduction for the upcoming Norman Rockwell exhibition at the Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute in Utica from June 11th to September 18th, 2022. On Saturday the 4th at 12:30 PM in the library’s Community Room at 10 Waverly Pl, Little Falls, representatives will be providing a talk and multimedia presentation to preview the aforementioned MWPAI Rockwell show. This presentation, in conjunction with the Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts and the Munson William Proctor Arts Institute, will be free and open to the public in the library’s handicap-accessible community-room space.
The presentation at the library will introduce and preview the upcoming landmark exhibition Norman Rockwell at MWPAI, as organized by the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, featuring iconic images of American scenes painted by the most beloved artist and illustrator of the 20th Century. Norman Rockwell illustrated everyday moments in America, featuring diverse races and nationalities. His story-filled scenes depicted American life and the women and men behind the images, from presidents to postmen.
The library presentation will be a taste of the rich spectrum of Rockwell’s work that will be on display at the MWPAI’s exhibit, which will include all 323 Saturday Evening Post covers he illustrated from 1916 to 1963, along with full-scale oil paintings, photographs, and drawings. With their themes as relevant today as the days the works were first published, the presentation will whet appetites for the upcoming MWPAI show and a rediscovery of the history of the 20th Century.
And while you’re in the Little Falls Public Library, don’t forget to check out the two Rockwell prints displayed in the library’s Periodicals Room, adjacent to the Community Room where the presentation will take place!
