As part of the Little Falls Area Food Pantry’s outreach to provide food baskets for those in need, they had asked residents to sign up if they felt they would be unable to have a Thanksgiving day meal. In response to that, 128 families put their names on that list.

“So volunteers assembled those baskets last Wednesday, and people were able to come in and pick them up,” said Tony DeLuca with the Little Falls Family YMCA.

The baskets were made possible through donations from the general public, church groups that donated, and with a grant from the Dale Memorial Trust.

“In addition to the food baskets that people signed up for, the folks at Canal Side Inn came to us and said, what about those people that can’t cook that are shut-ins that need a meal. We said yes, there is a need there,” DeLuca stated.

Another list was kept with names of people who needed help in that area, and the crew at the restaurant prepared forty cooked and fully prepared meals and delivered them to those who could not pick them up.

DeLuca said, “They got a bunch of volunteers and delivered them on Thanksgiving day. It was completed funded by the folks at Canal  Side Inn.”
