The Little Falls Babe Ruth team beat the Utica team 8-6 in a semi-final match on Friday evening.

According to Coach Keith Chrisman “It was 3-3 going into the bottom of the fifth and we scored one run. Then, we scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Sammy Phillips hit a triple and knocked in two runs to put us ahead.”

The Utica team scored three runs of their own in the top of the seventh.

“They didn’t play as well as they’ve played in the past. The last couple of games we’ve really struggled defensively and offensively, but they always seem to find a way to win. It’s a resilient group,” said the Coach.

The win means that they’ll face off against the winner of the Ilion/Fort Plain match, which is being held tonight. That league championship game will be played at Veterans Memorial Field, Sunday night, July 21st at 7:30 pm.

The Coach said, “I’m glad I have the group of kids and coaches that I have and with all the support from the parents, it makes for a good summer.”

The MVBUA league is made up of 13-15-year-old boys and there are 12 teams in the league. They play an 11 game schedule. The Little Falls team is coached by Keith Chrisman, Cooper Busch, and Sean Regan.
