UTICA, N.Y. — Marshall Chandler and Elijah German won the doubles championship in the Center State Conference Tournament on May 1 in dramatic fashion.

The pair had a bye for the first round, and cruised by Hamiton’s duo 10-4 in the second round. In the semi-finals, Chandler and German would reach another gear, as they came from behind to take down the defending champions Bianca Adam and Alexis Wolfe 10-9 in the tie breaker set.

It wouldn’t get any easier in the championship, Westmoreland’s Brody Faffley and Richard Zeigler had the Little Falls dynamic duo on the ropes being down 6-9. As they did in the semi-finals, Chandler and German battled back and forced a 9-9 tiebreaker set. They would not be denied, as they won that set 7-5 and took home the championship.

Little Falls Head Coach Tom Reid said it the first league championship in his five years at the helm.

The Mounties finished fourth in the 12 team field. Evan Petrie, David Brown, and Manuel Cruz also earned points for the team by advancing in the tournament.

Little Falls is now 6-5 with an eye on participating in the team sectional tournament, which is scheduled to start on Friday. The Mounties will also be represented at the individual sectional tournament at Hamilton College on May 19.
