LITTLE FALLS, NY – The Little Falls Cheese Festival committee announced that the city’s sixth annual Cheese Festival will move from its traditional mid-July spot to Saturday, October 2, 2021. This time next year, Little Falls will welcome thousands of visitors for food and fun at the event, which will run the length of Main Street from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“We’re all very excited for the move,” said Teri Chace of the Little Falls Cheese Festival committee. “Cancelling the 2020 festival due to COVID gave us time to reflect on ways we could make our event even better, and one of the things we all agreed on is that July can be punishingly hot. People melt, cheese melts, it only made sense to look for more temperate weather.”

The move to October not only allows the Little Falls Cheese Festival to escape the heat but to showcase Little Falls’ historic Main Street during the peak of fall foliage. And it just so happens that October is American Cheese Month.

“I’m thrilled to hear that the Cheese Festival is returning in 2021,” said Mayor Mark Blask. “Little Falls is so gorgeous in October, it’s going to really make this event special. And this is already such a fantastic event – for the cheesemakers, for our businesses, for our community, really for anyone who loves quality food. I have no doubt that next year will be bigger and better than ever.”

The festival will feature various New York State farm-produced cheeses, from hard cheeses, goat cheeses, spreadable cheeses, yogurts, cheese curds to ice cream and gelato, and more, with numerous New York-based gourmet food and craft beverage vendors to complement the cheeses. Additionally, the festival will again showcase a variety of local entertainment and musical acts all along Main Street. Until then, the Little Falls Cheese Festival website lists ways to support those small businesses as part of the festival’s ‘Keep Cheese Alive’ initiative.

The Little Falls Cheese Festival is New York State’s premier gathering of cheesemakers, with an estimated 6,000 people attending in 2019. Keep up to date with future plans by following the Little Falls Cheese Festival on Facebook, Instagram, or visiting
