The Herkimer County Sheriff’s Office’s Welfare Fraud Investigation Unit arrested a Little Falls man on various welfare fraud charges, according to a news release.

Andrew Schaffner, 28, was charged with fourth-degree welfare fraud and fourth-degree grand larceny, both class E felonies, according to deputies.

Schaffner fraudulently received in excess of $1,900 worth of benefits over a period of time that he was not entitled to receive, according to deputies.

Schaffner was released on an appearance ticket returnable in Herkimer Village Court at a later date.

The Herkimer County Department of Social Services assisted in the arrest.
