Little Falls, NY – One year ago today, we lost Little Falls native, Jana Behe-Kinneston, Esq. Jana was one of three daughters born to Ronald and Marilyn Behe. She graduated Little Falls High School in 1995, with her sisters, Leah and Carla, following along a few years later. In 2013, Jana married Josh Kinneston in Albany where she was a prominent area attorney.

Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing Jana knew of her love for sports, particularly field hockey. She was a competitor both on and off the field, always keeping her eye on the goal ahead while being mindful to play for the greater good of her team. This approach carried with her into adulthood where she gave tirelessly of herself to establish collaborations between professional organizations throughout the community.

Jana’s family has created a way to memorialize her giving spirit while allowing others to take part in their tribute. The foundation “Jana’s Way” has been established in loving memory of this community minded leader, with her younger sisters as Foundation Co-Chairs. Funds raised through the Foundation will be allocated mainly in the Mohawk Valley and Capital Region where Jana enjoyed most of her life.

Jana’s Way accepts monetary donations and welcomes fundraising suggestions. The first recipient organizations for Jana’s Way were announced last week on the Facebook page. The Little Falls Field Hockey team will receive the very first donation from Jana’s Way to commemorate where her legacy on the field began. The next recipient from Jana’s Way is Martel’s Restaurant at Capital Hills. Martel’s was one of Jana’s favorite places with many of her favorite people. This was also where Jana spent her last moments doing something she loved – golfing with her husband.

According to the Facebook page, this project has helped not only as a way for the family to cope with the struggle of their loss, but is also, “In memory and in celebration of someone who made this world brighter and a better place.” For more information, please visit “Jana’s Way Foundation” on Facebook or to help continue Jana’s light and generosity.
