Little Falls Rotary Club Canal Celebration Event Results

Despite the limited number of events being held during the Little Falls Canal Celebration, the Little Falls Rotary Club managed to provide two successful fundraisers. Starting off on Wednesday evening at the marina, the Duck Dash was back in full force after missing last year due to the covid restriction. The Rotarians, with help from the Rotaract students of LFHS, held elimination-style races starting with 331 ducks.

When the dust (water) settled on the highly competitive event it was duck #119 taking the win providing Doug Burton of Mohawk with the grand prize of $150. Following closely behind the winner was duck #246, sponsored by Little Falls resident, Stella Proulx, who earned $100. Third place finisher #92 earned Pat Regan $50 while finishing 4th in the final dash for cash was duck #331 sponsored by Tara McComb who took home $25. Thanks to all our ducks for the tremendous effort put forth. We also want to thank all the supporters who sponsored all those ducks.

Saturday provided beautiful weather for the annual golf tournament held at the MV Golf and Event Center, owned by ARC Herkimer. There were seven teams of four golfers each competing in the scramble event. The winning team, comprised of Jerry Zitoli, Charlie Balderston, Ryan Upson, and Roger Waligora, shot a nice round of 59. Closest to the pin was won by Jeff Jones in the men’s division and Joann Keblish for the women. Congratulations golfers, great shooting. Thanks to Van Meter and Van Meter the tournament sponsor, and our many other sponsors who provided monetary donations and door prize items. Almost every golfer left with a prize.

Thanks to everyone in the community for making these events a success. The money raised is used to support local organizations and to provide a scholarship to a LFHS graduate each year. Next up is the football pool. Contact any LF Rotarian to get an entry into the football pool or call Mike Evans at (352) 636-6620.
