The Magicians jumped on the Mounties in the top of the first inning. Leah Bray led the game off with a single and came all the way around to score to give her team an early 1-0 lead. Little Falls answered back in the bottom of the second as Andy-Lynn Podlas scored after getting hit by a pitch with two outs.

The next two innings would be a pitchers battle, as Herkimer’s Bray and Adriana Izzo of Little Falls kept the offenses as bay. In the top of the fifth inning, the Magicians bats came alive. Mia Calicchia drew a one out walk and scored on a double by Bella Maass. Bray followed that up with another base hit as Maass scored as would Bray to cap a three run fifth putting the Magicians in front 4-1.

As Bray helped her own cause at the plate, it was Izzo’s turn to do the same in the bottom of the fifth. She led off with a base hit and scored after stealing two bases and a passed ball to get her team within two.

After the Magicians went three up and three down in the top of the sixth, Little Falls unloaded a seven run barrage in their half of the inning. The Mounties sent 11 batters to the plate and built a five lead before the Magicians were able to end the inning. Izzo got a second straight three up, three down inning in the top of the seventh to secure the Mounties 9-4 victory.

Bray led the way on offense for the Magicians with two base hits, two runs scored, and a stolen base. She was also the pitcher of record, giving up four hits and recording six strikeouts.

Adriana Izzo scored two runs and stole two bases for the Mounties, and gave up five hits and fanning eight batters from the pitchers mound. Jayden Regan (four), Andy-Lynn Podlas (three), Abigail Farber (two), and Gianna Almaviva (two) also had multiple stolen bases for Little Falls.

Herkimer’s record now stands at 5-4, and they return home for their next game on Saturday against South Lewis. Little Falls returns to action on Monday with a road game at Dolgeville.
