Herkimer, N.Y. – The Loaves and Fishes Warming Center is having a clean up event at Bagetta Park on the corners of William and Smith Streets in Herkimer on Monday, April 20 as part of it’s celebration of Earth Day. The event began at 10 a.m.

The Loaves and Fishes Warming Center provides a warm place to stay for the area’s homeless during the winter months in the Salvation Army building at 431 North Prospect Street in Herkimer. It is run by staff and volunteers, and its mission is to “offer shelter, sustenance, and connect individuals to additional resources, ensuring that those seeking a safe place at the warming center receive the necessary support to regain stability.”

Christine Lawrence, the director of the Loaves and Fishes Warming Center, said, “Many of our homeless have expressed their desire to give back to the community, so we planned an Earth Day clean-up event.”
