On Tuesday night, the Little Falls girls varsity basketball team moved on to the Quarterfinal Round in the Section 3 Class B Sectional Championships with a 61-45 win over the Serburne-Earlville Marauders.

Coach Pam Munger said, “The girls have worked their tails off this season to get to a good record – they wanted to improve their record – they wanted to get past where they got last year.”

She said that she felt they were very focused from the beginning of the game until the end. “We weren’t forcing things, even though some passes at times were a little bit messy.”

Munger said the Marauders were boxing Alexis Kress to keep her out of the game, so they had to adjust their offense flow. “I think we did a good job making that happen.”

“Sherburne is a strong group on the inside. We knew it was going to be a game. When you get to sectionals, everybody is playing tough to get to that next step,” stated the coach.

Munger said, “I’m extremely proud of this group, so now that we’ve reached beyond what we did last year, their goal is to get a few more underneath their belt, so we’re going to keep going one game at a time and keep plugging away.”

Four players were in double digits with the win – Adriana Izzo had 22 points, Alexis Kress 12, Ava Grcic 11, and Andy-Lynn Podlas 10.

Little Falls awaits the winner of tonight’s match between Herkimer and Phoenix to find out who and where they play on Saturday at 6 pm.
