The Girls Varsity Basketball team downed the Frankfort-Schuyler Maroon Knights Thursday evening 56-39 at home.

Coach Pam Munger stated, “I didn’t want to have half-time because I saw a little magic, I saw a little gell in that second quarter and it was exciting – I didn’t want it to stop. They looked for each other, they were very poised, they handled themselves well with pressure on them and offensively they moved the ball well.”

“They were a little sloppy in the second half. I think it’s because they get their adrenaline going up and up and up and then you have halftime and we kind of slid down. There needs to be a little third-quarter fire so that it makes a difference,” she said.

The Coach went on to say, “this is the kind of group that is loving defense and with them loving that, it makes a huge difference in their play. You put the press on, and you’ve got a spark again, so it’s all about the defense for them now, which is what they wanted.”

The girls move to 5-5 overall and 5-3 in the CSC. Shayna Straney had 12 points, Gabby Sylstra 11, and Riley Dunn had ten, while Olivia Lindsay had nine. Their next home game is January 14th at 7 pm against West Canada Valley.
