The Little Falls Mounties played offense most of the night and ended up with a 1-0 shutout over the Unatego Spartans in the Class C girls soccer state regional contest at Herkimer County Community College.

Olivia Lindsay’s goal with 6:34 left in the game proved to be the game-winner.

According to Coach Sal Marchese “I’m very happy for the girls. They played hard and it was one of those games where we couldn’t get a goal right away. Their (Spartans) keeper played a really good game, but we kept at it and finally had one go in.”

“We had a lot of corner kicks, and we kept plugging away. I’m proud of the girls,” the coach said.

The goal was the 22nd of the season for Lindsay with the assist coming from Gabby Sylstra and the shutout was the tenth of the season for goalie Kylie Miles and the Mounties defense.

The Mounties advance to the state final four and will next face the winner of the Maple Grove vs. Wheatland-Chili game at 5:30 p.m. at Cortland HS.
