The Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts held an opening reception and awards ceremony for the 2022 Regional Juried Art Exhibition on Sunday. More than 43 artists participated in the show, and Tom Montan, from Sculpture Space in Utica, was the juror.

Montan said, “I am truly honored to be part of the Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts regional show. The MVCA is a gem in the heart of a very beautiful City.”

He said that when he was asked to judge the show, he couldn’t resist. “I thought it would be a simple task, but I was truly humbled by the immense challenge of this pool of talent. Trying to find the best in a gallery full of bests is not easy.”

“It was clear from the start how much talent this center attracts, so please know that even though I have picked only a few truly remarkable pieces, every single piece in this room today deserves to be here and represents varying levels of development, skill, work, and immense talent,” he said.

The winners of the Regional Show were: 1st – Andy Weinstein, 2nd – Alexandra Tamburro, 3rd – Donna Veeder, Honorable mention – Garlyn Maginnis, and Honorable mention- Katherine Lamere-Fortman.
