On Saturday, the Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts (MVCA) had its opening reception for the Torrent of Flor show, which will run through June 17, 2023.
Eight women have their work on display, and Erica Hoffman came up with the idea to get their work in the gallery.
She said, “I was looking for some newer artists that the Mohawk Valley hadn’t really seen yet. Most of the women haven’t had their own shows.”
Hoffman went on to say that this is the first all-woman show that they’ve ever had. “I just wanted to do something fun, light, and springy, so I came up with the theme of flowers, and I told each artist that they could take any inspiration from a flower.”
Torrent is an outpouring, and Flor is Latin for flower, so she said, “It’s an outpouring of flowers.”
