A new community solar farm under construction on Valley View Drive in Little Falls is providing an opportunity for area residents to subscribe at no cost to a share of a local solar farm and go solar without rooftop panels. Project developer Nexamp is hosting two informational meetings on June 22nd and 27th to provide an overview of how community solar works and answer any questions.

  • Little Falls Community Solar Information Sessions
  • Saturday, June 22nd at 11:00 am, Little Falls Public Library
  • Thursday, June 27th at 6:00 pm, Little Falls Public Library
  • Community solar presentation, open Q&A

Nexamp’s community solar farm on Valley View Drive will add 5 MW of clean energy to the National Grid power grid, enough to power more than 500 homes. By attending the public information session and bringing a current National Grid bill, eligible residents can secure a spot in the program with no upfront cost, no minimum credit requirement, and no long-term commitment.

Community solar enables residents to subscribe at no cost to a share of a local solar farm rather than installing solar panels on their own home. This makes solar available to everyone, because many people may not have a roof suitable for solar panels, may rent their home or apartment, or may not have the resources to purchase solar panels. Participants in the farm receive a 10% discount on the allocated credits, helping them reduce their electric bills by up to 10% annually.

With dozens of community solar projects in operation or under construction across the Northeast, Nexamp is quickly becoming a leader in the market. “New York leaders are working aggressively to meet ambitious renewable energy goals,” notes Zaid Ashai, CEO, Nexamp, “and solar power will play a significant role in that mission. Community solar makes the benefits of clean energy available to a much larger audience, accelerating adoption and implementation. We look forward to sharing more information about this new opportunity for Little Falls area residents during these information sessions.”
