The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that State Route 29 between Reservoir Road and Platform Road in the Town of Fairfield, Herkimer County, will be closed to traffic beginning Friday, September 26, for a slope repair. The work zone will be located approximately half a mile east of the intersection with Reservoir Road. The road closure is expected to last for approximately eight weeks, weather permitting.

Motorists should follow a posted detour utilizing State Routes 29, 169, 170, and 170A.

Motorists should anticipate travel delays and allow extra time for their commute during this construction project.

Emergency Parking Restriction Notice

City of Little Falls

Due to an emergency NYSDOT detour on Route 29, parking will be restricted on the north side of Monroe Street from Top Notch to Moreland. This restriction is necessary to accommodate the movement of 800–1,000 vehicles daily through Little Falls.

Effective Date: Friday, September 26, 2025
Duration: Until further notice (emergency work expected to take approximately 8 weeks)
