Takeout orders were a hit with Emmanuel Episcopal Church’s Third Thursday roast pork dinner.

People lined up to take advantage of the Third Thursday Roast Port dinner at Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Thursday night. Mike Bell talked about the event and said, “Once a month on the Third Thursday of the month, we try to tie the dinner in with the Think Local event.”
The meal included mashed potatoes, a green bean salad or peas and carrots, dessert, rolls & butter and a drink for $10.
“Our dinners help pay for things at the church. We pay bills, or we try to use the money for restoration. In fact, we just got finished painting the inside of the Parish Hall,” he said.
The next project they’re going to try and fund is LED lighting for the Parish Hall and a new ceiling.
The church also tries to help out families in need. “If someone in the community needs something, we let everyone in the community know they can come and eat free.”
Bell feels that the outreach to the community is important. He said, “This is my way that I can help out.”
Two years ago the church decided to get their kitchen certified. “It’s one thing at a time and hopefully we can grow in the direction that the community needs,” he said.
The next parish dinner will be meatloaf on March 19th from 4-7 pm or until sold out. The meal will include mashed potatoes & gravy, vegetables, applesauce, bread & butter, and a dessert & beverage.
