Middleburgh, NY Jim Barber, candidate for New York’s 51st State Senate district announced today that his campaign will be holding a series of virtual town halls on Facebook and Youtube.
“The COVID-19 pandemic is showing us the critical need for well-functioning government at all levels making it that much more important to reach voters right now with our message of common-sense, effective governing,” Barber explained. “Like so many businesses and families are doing, our campaign is trying out new ways to support and talk to our communities without creating any health risks.”
The virtual town halls are scheduled for Thursday, March 26th at 7 pm, Tuesday, March 31st at 5 pm, Wednesday, April 8th at 3 pm, and Monday, April 13th at 6 pm. People can participate by going to Barber’s Facebook Page – https://www.facebook.com/pg/JimBarberforSenate/ – or Youtube Channel – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqNlKE3QLnneBHdX6EAB8gw – on the designated day and time, and may also submit questions in advance to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Barber has also committed to using social media to raise money for community organizations. Every Sunday for the next few weeks, he will be cooking his signature breakfast – pancakes, eggs, and bacon with maple syrup from their farm – and donating to a local organization.
“One of the things I have enjoyed most about campaigning are the Pancake Breakfasts and Firehouse Dinners,” Barber said. “It’s a great way to meet voters and support our local first responders and community organizations. So far, I’ve been to the West Laurens, Westford and Hartwick Seminary Fire Departments, the Scho-Wright EMT, and the Schenevus AmVets. During this time of social distancing I am going to miss these events, but more importantly, these organizations are going to miss the revenue that they generate so we want to help.”
Last Sunday the Barber campaign donated to the West Fulton Volunteer Fire Department. Voters are invited to share community organizations that they would like the Barber campaign to support in the coming weeks and to join by sending donations and posting pictures of their Sunday breakfast with the hashtag #PancakesWithJim.
