Once again, Shop with a Cop went off without a hitch at the Herkimer Walmart, sponsored by ICAN, and Cruise Inn by Mike.
Each year, Cruise Inn by Mike has a 50/50 raffle during their summer car shows, and the proceeds are used to fund this event to support the Little Falls ICAN kids who are in the program.
Brandi Candido, with ICAN, stated, “It’s an opportunity for our kids to connect with law enforcement and first responders in a positive way. Mike has been supporting this program for years now.”
Candido said that they were supporting 20 children, and each received $100 to spend any way they wished. “A lot of kids come with lists and buy for themselves and their families, which is really cool. It’s great when the kids come back and tell you what they bought.”
Mike Bulger remarked, “We had a wonderful time. Things went kinda quickly because the kids had their ideas and knew what they wanted. I brought in some recruits – my daughter and daughter-in-law to help.”
Police officers from Herkimer filled in for the Little Falls police and fire department because they were busy with the fire at the Twin Rivers plant on West Main Street at the same time. “Everyone had a smile,” Bulger said.
Steve Bulger, Mike’s son and CEO of ICAN, stated, “This is awesome – to see it all come together because of the fundraisers that Mike does as part of Cruise Inn by Mike down by the Marina in Little Falls.”
“Tonight, we got to see all the smiling faces of the kids shopping with the Little Falls and Herkimer Police officers. It’s a great example of the community coming together to support kids and families during the holidays, and that’s what it’s all about,” Bulger said.
