GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Assists in the operation and maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment of Little Falls Housing Authority; performs related work, as required.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: An appointive position that directly assists the Working Fore-person in providing efficient and economical operation for maintenance of the Authority buildings, grounds, and equipment. Responsibilities include making independent decisions to implement Authority procedures for completion of various assigned tasks.

EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Illustrative only) – Electrical, plumbing and heating repairs; carpentry, painting, masonry, roofing, tiling, locksmithing and other mechanical work. Maintenance cares for landscaped areas; estimates materials required for repairs; perform a variety of other skilled labor.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Working knowledge of modern large-scale buildings and grounds operation and maintenance; good knowledge of the tools, terminology and practices of one or more of the mechanical or construction trades; broad knowledge of practices, tools and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of buildings; mechanical aptitude; ability to understand and carry out oral and written direction; ability to get along well with others; honesty. Initiative, good judgement, and good physical condition are required.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAININGS: At least three years’ experience in building maintenance work, graduation from high school; or acceptable equivalent combination of experience and training. A valid NYS driver’s license is required.
